Kate McCarthy guest post - Summer Drama (look)!

I always know that it’s summer when Memorial Day weekend arrives! That also means it is BBQ season… nothing like grilled BBQ Tofu…er…meat. Anywho, I get so excited for all the summer activities that I literally plan my make up looks and outfits for the season (OCD much?) I hope you get inspired by what I will be doing!

If you can’t tell, I have a bit of a flare for the dramatic. I love wearing a smoky eye day AND night. I was playing around with mermaid, rain forest and lilac Eye Shadows and created a beautiful soft smoky eye. I promise this is not too intense for day!

THE VERY FIRST THING YOU TO DO IS PUT ON SPF 40! (I like the Oil Free formula) nothing is worse than looking like the watermelon you just scarfed down at your fabulous Memorial Day BBQ. (That means hit your body up with some SPF too.)

Start with your Lid Primer (remember a little goes a long way) then using your Eyeliner Brush apply a medium-thick line of ebony Cream Eyeliner to the upper lash line and half way up the lid. (Do one eye at a time.) Quickly smoke mermaid into the Cream Eyeliner and begin to blend out to the crease (I like to use the Crease Brush or Mini Crease Brush for this). Next, grab your Eye Blender Brush and apply rain forest on the crease and blend until mermaid and rain forest begin to lightly combine. Grab your Base Brush and place some diamond eye shadow on your brow bone, blending down (barley) to where rain forest begins. Last, get a clean Crease Brush and swirl lilac into the inner corners of your eyes and swipe the lower lash line with some rain forest. LOAD up on Mascara (of course!!)

Proceed with your foundation application. (I do eyes first on this look just in case there is fall out. If there is, I can wipe it away without smearing my make up!) Dust cheeks with paradise Blush ( I like using the Fan Brush) and top lips with flirt Liquid Lips. Last but not least, fill in those brows! I like mahogany Eye Shadow for myself. But taupe Brow Powder Duo works on just about everyone!

Take a peek at my Artist Addictions post to see what I plan on wearing all summer long (warning: you may need sunglasses for the insane bright colors!)

Don’t stray, more looks and inspiration for summer will be coming at ya!

PS - Apparently in my world it is (national parenthesis day) oh well.
